Economic Impact

Maine’s agriculture and food-related businesses generate $11 billion in economic impact. With over 7,000 farms and 42,000 jobs, Maine’s rural economy depends on a robust agriculture industry, but all Mainers benefit from an abundant supply of food that is safe to eat.

That is why Maine’s agriculture industry must have a voice in Augusta when policies that affect our ability to operate are being developed. Recent policy decisions have jeopardized access to safe and tested pest management tools, making it harder to grow our food, maintain sustainable farms, and safeguard our communities from pest-born illnesses.

Keep Maine Growing is fighting for what matters to all Mainers. We’re fighting to put science above politics, to protect our health and communities, to stimulate economic growth, to promote a sustainable environment, and we’re fighting for strong farms and safe, abundant food.
